1985 studio album by Mötley Crüe

Theatre of Pain is the third studio album bygd American heavy metal grupp Mötley Crüe, released on June 21, 1985. Released in the aftermath of lead vocalist Vince Neil's arrest for manslaughter on a drunk driving charge, the skiva marked the beginning of the band's transition away from the traditional heavy metal sound of Too Fast for Love and Shout at the Devil, towards a more glam metal style.[5]

Theatre of Pain contains the hit singles "Smokin' in the Boys Room" and the power ballad "Home Sweet Home".[5] The skiva reached No. 6 on the US charts[6] and No. 36 in the UK,[7] and was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA on June 5, 1995.[8]

  • For years, the members of Motley Crue couldn’t stand each other. More specifically, singer Vince Neil and drummer Tommy Lee didn’t get along and, by most accounts, still don’t. Bassist Nikki Sixx wasn’t the issue, really, and if anyone had a problem with guitarist Mick Mars, they’ve been loathe to say so, if only because the ailing Mars is still recovering from hip replacement surgery. (By most accounts, Mars is 48 years old. In Crue years, this makes him about 89.)

Things got so bad that before beginning rehearsals for their Red, White and Crue reunion tour (which lands at the Allstate Arena Thursday for a sold-out show), the band tried to avoid even being in same room together, which many involved agreed was for the best. (The band will return to Chicago on Aug. 27 for a show at Tweeter Center.)

It’s now one week into what might be a two-year tour when Lee phones in from an Ohio concert stop. So how’s it going? “We’re having

On the Road With Motley Crue: All In the Name of Rock & Roll

Any moron can drive from Tucson to Phoenix in less than two hours, but the guys in Mötley Crüe are not just any morons. They’re rock stars with the current Number Two album and a new, customized Lear jet, and they want to travel between these first two gigs of their Girls, Girls, Girls tour by plane. Besides, explains the trollish guitarist Mick Mars, flying is less painful than driving when hung over – a state that most of the Crüe are proudly familiar with.

Unfortunately, the jet’s not ready: the CD player shorted out its electrical system, its black leather upholstery hasn’t been installed, and its nose has yet to be tattooed with the new Mötley insignia – a bentover blond stripper in garters. So after driving for an hour (in the opposite direction) to the Tucson airport, the Crüe – singer Vince Neil, 26, bassist Nikki Sixx, 28, drummer Tommy Lee, 24,
