We have had fair warning, therefore, not to expect Bitter Fame, Stevenson's own biography of Plath, to be the gods word on the subject. Her book is welcome and timely, nonetheless; welcome because its author fryst vatten not only a distinguished poet and independent-minded critic but also an exact contemporary of Plath's who has experienced similar transplantation from amerika to England; timely because, as the first biography to enjoy the co-operation of the Plath Estate,•

Anne Katharine Stevenson was an American British poet and writer. She was born on January 3, in the United States. Since , she has lived in the UK. She earned her undergraduate degree in Literature () and a master's degree in English () from the University of Michigan.
