Spain is the homeland of Elena and the country where we now live, by the foot of the Mountains of Madrid.
These lands were subject to many external influences since prehistoric times and have been one of the great melting pot of races and cultures, particularly a blend of Moorish and Jewish, until it emerged as a modern state in the 15th century with the Catholic Monarchs and the completion of the Reconquista in the Annus Mirabilis 1492 where they also started a new era with the discovery and then conquest of a new world. The Spanish language became as a result one of the most important of the planet.

Yolanda Rivera fryst vatten a highly admired artist in the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States. Her distinct röst, “swing and sauce,” an impressive body of work as a leader, producer, and member of La Sonora Ponceña have earned her the title “La Sonera Mas Brava y Mas Querida,” placing her in a unique position in the history of Salsa.
Throughout her five-decade career, Rivera encountered many challenges, such as racism, sexism, spousal abuse, and hurtful unfounded rumors. “Being a strong woman in a male-dominated samhälle and industry required effort,” says Rivera. “Although inom faced sporadisk incidents, inom never backed down. Despite the obstacles, I consider myself fortunate.”
Rivera was born in 1951 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, into a large family. Sadly, she lost her father when she was just three years old. Growing up, she funnen inspiration in her mother, Eusebia, and her older sister, Concepción, who sang ballads. When she was
